Size: A3 landscape — 29.7 × 42 cm / 11.7 × 16.5 inches
Medium: Archival ballpoint pen on Saunders Waterford Traditional White, 425gsm
Edition: Limited edition of 15, signed, dated, and numbered by the artist
Price: £200
This piece grew out of a recent commission and the quiet challenge of bringing someone else’s passion into my own visual language. The starting point was my client’s favourite car from his collection—an object already loaded with memory, design, and emotion. The task was not simply to depict it, but to place it convincingly inside one of my imagined worlds, where motion, colour, and rhythm take priority over realism.
Built entirely from layered ballpoint pen lines, the car becomes part of the flow rather than sitting on top of it. Sweeping bands of colour curve and loop around the form, suggesting movement, speed, and a sense of travel through an abstract landscape. What initially felt like a constraint—working from a very specific subject—ultimately opened up new possibilities, pushing the balance between precision and intuition.
As with much of my recent work, the image is about transition: between object and environment, control and play, commission and personal exploration. Each drawing is finished as a unique piece and released as a limited edition.
🎨 Car colour can be changed on request to match your own 911.
