Clean Waves at Dusk continues my exploration of water, light and movement through densely layered line work.
Inspired by the clean movement of the water as daylight begins to fade, the piece captures that point at dusk when deeper blues emerge and the remaining colours of the light begin to mix across the surface.
Thousands of individual archival pen lines rise, fall and flow across the paper, following the rhythm of the waves. Deep blues, reds and flashes of turquoise move through one another, with the changing direction of the lines creating a continuous blend of colour and movement.
In some areas, every line remains visible and defined. In others, the colours become so closely layered that the individual marks begin to disappear, creating deeper areas that feel almost submerged within the drawing.
Rather than depicting one particular wave, Clean Waves at Dusk is about the experience of watching the water constantly change — the light catching one section before disappearing into another, and the colours shifting with every rise and fall of the surface.
The piece continues this new direction in my work, allowing colour and line to become part of the same movement — building a surface that feels fluid, layered and constantly changing the longer you look at it.
Every piece is carefully packed by Anthony and shipped via UPS with full tracking.
