Long Noodles, New Light is inspired by the tradition of eating long noodles at the start of the year, a symbol of good luck, longevity, and continuity. The flowing bands of colour echo the physical act of lifting noodles from a bowl—stretching, looping, and folding back on themselves—while also referencing the first sunrise of 2026.
Built from hundreds of fine, layered pen lines, the drawing balances movement and calm, with colour transitions that suggest early morning light shifting across the sky. The repetition of lines speaks to ritual and renewal, while their subtle variations keep the work alive and human.
