Created in response to my first days in Bermuda, Reef Light captures the intensity of colour, movement, and atmosphere experienced where ocean and light meet.
The flowing lines echo the rhythm of shifting currents, while the palette draws from memory, the vivid blues of open water, the warmth of coral reefs, and the shimmer of light refracting beneath the surface. The experience of seeing humpback whales for the first time lingers within the work, not as a literal form, but as a presence—felt in the scale, the motion, and the quiet power carried through the composition.
Rather than depicting a single moment, the piece becomes an accumulation of sensation—an abstract translation of those first encounters with a place that feels both expansive and alive.
