Original artwork - One of One
Ripple Bloom marks a development from my earlier ripple drawings, introducing a secondary image into the dense movement of the lines. I wanted to explore what happens when two visual structures occupy the same space, allowing one to blur into the other rather than sitting clearly on top of it. The lines are repeatedly broken and shifted, gradually building an image that moves between clarity and abstraction.
The secondary form draws loosely from the radial structures of mandalas, but as it becomes absorbed into the ripples, it begins to suggest other things ā the pupil of an eye, the centre of a flower, or something seen through distortion. Iām interested in that ambiguity, and in the point where an image begins to emerge without ever becoming completely fixed.
Made from thousands of individual marks, the drawing continues my exploration of repetition, movement and optical depth, while opening up a new direction in which recognisable forms can exist within the ripple structure and slowly dissolve back into line and colour.
Every piece is carefully packed by Anthony and shipped via UPS with full tracking.
