Archival pen on 425gsm Saunders Waterford paper
A2 Portrait — 42 × 59.4 cm / 16.5 × 23.4 inches
Original artwork — one of one
Inspired by a quiet moment discovered after a long walk to clear the mind, Shizuka Flow reflects the feeling of stepping away from the noise and demands of everyday life and finding a place of complete calm within a Japanese garden.
Created through thousands of pen lines on A2 paper, the work grew from a moment of stillness beside softly cascading stepped waterfalls, where the gentle rhythm of water moving across stone seemed to slow time itself. The flowing layers of colour echo the meditative repetition of water travelling over stone steps, inspired by traditional Japanese garden waterfalls often formed using natural granite and slate.
The piece became a way to pause, reflect, and quietly collect thoughts — a reminder of how important it can be to step away, breathe deeply, and simply exist within a peaceful moment. Through movement, colour, and rhythm, Shizuka Flow explores the restorative feeling of finding calm amongst the constant motion of daily life
